Bar Harbor Trust Services Announces 2019 Hattie A. & Fred C. Lynam Grant Recipients

Bar Harbor, Maine (January 3, 2020) – Curtis C. Simard, President and CEO of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, is pleased to announce the 2019 grant recipients from the Hattie A. & Fred C. Lynam Trust managed by Bar Harbor Trust Services. The Lynam Trust was established to support charitable, religious, and educational organizations which are particularly beneficial to and advantageous for the people of Mount Desert Island. The Lynam Trust makes grants, ranging from $500 to $5,000, to non-profit organizations located on Mount Desert Island.

In 2019, the Lynam Trust awarded grants to 32 organizations representing over $98,000 in total awards. The organizations receiving grants include:

The annual grant application deadline is September 18th. Applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee each November. Grants are awarded and distributed by December 31st of the same calendar year. Applicants must have their primary administrative office located on Mount Desert Island and serve the residents of MDI. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply every year, whether or not a grant was awarded to them in a prior year. For additional information please visit

In addition to the grant program, the Lynam Trust has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors of Mt. Desert Island High School since 1942. These renewable awards are restricted to graduates of MDI High School who are residents of Mount Desert Island. Recipients must reapply each year. In 2019, $1,000 scholarships were awarded to 134 MDI High School graduates.
