Bar Harbor Trust Services Announces 2020 Hattie A. & Fred C. Lynam Grant Recipients

Bar Harbor, Maine (December 14, 2020) – Bar Harbor Trust Services, is pleased to announce the 2020 grant recipients from the Hattie A. & Fred C. Lynam Trust. The Lynam Trust, which is managed by Bar Harbor Trust Services, was established to support charitable, religious, and educational organizations that are particularly beneficial to and advantageous for the people of Mount Desert Island. The Lynam Trust makes grants, typically ranging from $500 to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations located on Mount Desert Island.

In 2020, the Lynam Trust awarded grants to 30 organizations representing more than $154,000 in total awards. The organizations receiving grants include:

The grant application deadline for next year’s awards will be September 17, 2021. Applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee each November, and grants are awarded and distributed by December 31 of the same calendar year. Applicants must have their primary administrative office located on Mount Desert Island and serve the residents of MDI. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply every year, whether or not a grant was awarded to them in a prior year. Visit www.lynamtrust.com for more information.

In addition to the grant program, the Lynam Trust has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors of Mount Desert Island High School since 1942. These renewable awards are restricted to graduates of MDI High School who are residents of Mount Desert Island. Recipients must reapply each year. In 2020, $1,000 scholarships were awarded to 127 MDI High School graduates.
